The Carbon Friendly™ logo was designed by Chad Rickards, a graphic designer in Vancouver, Canada.
Each of the three individual images within the CFS logo plays an equally critical role to the increase or decrease in the effects of climate change. Therefore CFS felt it was important to keep the design simple and recognizable, so that people of all ages would identify with each image within the CFS logo.
The logo is comprised of (1) a TREE (in green) which produces oxygen we breathe by, (2) utilizing energy form SUNLIGHT (in yellow) during photosynthesis to, (3) sequester the CARBON (molecule in grey) that we emit, which is the largest component of greenhouse gas contributing to the greenhouse effect.
There are about 60 to 200 million spaces along our city streets where trees could be planted. This translates to absorbing 22 million more tonnes of CO2 per year and saving $4 billion in energy costs.
